What are some AMAZING books?

I have a little time on my hands (can you say SUMMER!?) and i'm looking for some great books to pass the time! What do you suggest!

Oh and I like romance (not the sappy kind)

Adventure

usually historical fiction

and a little magic is totally cool

Update:

yes I am a teen (and a girl at that)

The website is great

Sounds good so far but I kinda like some stuff with purpose (lets just say some of my fave books are by Ayn Rand) but I'm not opposed puff candy.

I like pretty much the same books as you... so here are some that I have read that I loved!

The Book Thief- Markus Zusak- honestly it is a quite depressing book, and i don't usually like those kinds. Its about a german girl in WWII but it is written so AMAZINGLY!!! I loved it!!

The Count of Monte Cristo- Alexandre Dumas- a historical fiction, classic! that pretty much has everything you like except magic. It is about a young man who is wronged and decides to take revenge. also sounds dark, but it really isn't! we read it in School, *IMPORTANT* get the abridged version!!!!!!! its like 500 pages but the unabridged version is like 5,000 pages long, and the only thing that is abridged out is a bunch of political stuff.

Percy Jackson Series- Rick Riordan like 5 books- has EVERYTHING you want... so u might have read it before, but it is way awesome

A year down yonder- Richard Peck- a good one, easy to read, won an award, each chapter is a different story

Among the hidden- Margret Peterson Haddix- kind of in the future... there is a big series that go along with it, short books but good.

The whipping boy- Sid Fleischman- also easy to read, short, an award winner, WAY good.

The Enchanted Chocalate Pot- Patricia Wrede-harder book, the whole book is letters between to people, a magic type book.

The True confessions of Charlotte Doyle- Avi- I personally have never read it but everyone who has, has raved about it. Has everything you are looking for.

Source(s): I LOVE to read as well... so.....

I love Meg Cabot (Heather Wells [upcoming movie]& Queen of Babble [upcoming movie], and tons of others), Sophie Kinsella's (AKA: Madeleine Wickham) (Shopaholic [movie based on her books] & Remember Me), Jennifer Weiner (Good in Bed & Certain Girls), Jane Green (Mr. Maybe) Emily Giffin (Something Borrowed & Something Blue), Lauren Weisberger (Devil Wears Prada, Chasing Harry Winston), and Candance Bushnell (Sex and the City) books. They are all great authors!

For a young adult/teen Meg Cabot's young adult books. She is the best author. Also best selling. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), All-American Girl (up coming movie), Jinx, Airhead and more. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her.

If you want more info or any of the authors website's email me.

    Maybe the Twilight series.
