problem with auto air cond.?

I bought a 08 chevy cobalt 4 weeks ago. On friday night i noticed my dashboard above the AC unit was wet and there was water around the unit itself. It ended up going away. yesterday i turned the AC on and pushed the " circulation" button. the button light flashed on and off. the Air does blow, but does not become cold like when i push the circulation button. what can be wrong? thanks

Update:

thanks Jay. the car is under warranty, but just wanted to check.

Update 2:

called the dealer. the warranty is good for 36,000 miles. i have 35, 000. so they will fix it. the power train has 100, 000..so good news. thanks all.

It could be one of 2 things, and maybe both.

The drain from the evaporator in the car could be plugged, so condensation from the AC is not draining like it should. If there is not water under your car after your use the AC that is probably the problem and an easy fix.

You could also be low on freon. That is an easy fix that you can do yourself.

It can be a lot of things.

Look under the hood withe the ac off.

Locate the ac compressor...it will have aluminum tube coming out of it.

Look at the pulley that turns the com presser.

There is is a clutch on the front...turn your ac on full cool make sure that the clutch is engaging.

if it doesn't engage you could be low on freon.

It also sounds like you could have a clogged drain hole..that's not letting the condensation drain.

It should be located on the right hand side on the firewall...it needs to be kept clear.

If the air is very humid you could get moisture/condensation on window ect, especially on recirc because you are not using fresh air but air from inside the car. your coldest air will be on lower fan setting on recirc.

Take it back 2 the dealer, unless it has over 100,000 miles on it it's still in warranty.
