Can a baby have 2 birth certificates?
I am 26 weeks pregnant. The babies dad is talking about taking the baby to mex. He is from Mexico and I am from here in Oregon. He says that teknicley he can get a birth certificate for our daughter from mexico even though she will be born in the US and i am 100% American. He is saying it jokeingly but i am afraid that he might. he really wants to go back to mexico he says the only reason he is staying here is for my daughter and me. does anyone know if this is possible or know of a law ferm i can talk to abot it?

The baby wouldn't be let out of the country without you....unless you give written consent and stamped at a lawyer. Birth certificates are for where you are born. I don't see how you can have 2 from 2 different places. Citizenship is different.

Yes he can, however the process of obtain a Mexican birth certificate is not as easy as your baby father is making it out to be. Your daughter will be born with dual citizenship. She will be a U.S citizen since she will be born here in the U.S. She will have Mexican Nationality because her father is Mexican. Below is a small article explaining a bit about dual citizenship.

if he signs the AOP (ACKNOWLEGEMENT OF PATERNITY) at the hospital,he will have the same parental rights as you, if u want him to sign yr babies papers at the hospital he may, you dont have to contact a law firm unless u want to, you can go yr family law center or child support office and just ask them that u want your child to be here in US with you and they will set up a court date for yall and might order for your child to stay here in US with you,
i really suggest that you get custody of your baby if he's sayin hes gonna take your baby away from you
my personal experience my baby dad took my daughter away from me, and he took her to another county here in texas, i never had anyone to tell me or help me about my situation so i hired a lawyer and all he did for me was what im tellin you, it took me 3,700$ and 2 months to get my daughter back to my arms, imagine a mothers pain without her baby, it was the worst 2 months of my life!!!
my dad took me and my brothers from us to mexico and it took my mom a WHOLE year to get us back to US.
i really doubt you can get a birth certifcate n mexico!! i have a friend she had her baby in san antonio texas and came to houston she had to go all the way bak to san antonio because she was applying for apts and she couldnt get his copy here in houston. when your bby is born if hes on the birth certificate he can go to yr birth certificate office and just pay lik 23$ to get a copy of the birth certificate, it usually take no more than 6 weeks after yr baby is born for the birth cerftificate to be ready
i really hope you take my advice!! good luck!!!
