It figures, doesn't it? Finally get a chance to get out and fish....?

First off, I hope everyone's doing alright, I know I haven't been on in a while, need to get my laptop worked on... anyway...

The other weekend, I got my mom to watch the kids for a while and B and I went out to one of our little productive spots to see about catching dinner... we left the house at about 8:30 and had to be back by 11, so of course the first hour or so was unproductive and we would have to leave for the house by 10:35 at the latest... a few undersized mangrove snapper, couple sailor's choice, a few barely keeper sheephead, and at about 10:20, the bite turned on for black drum... caught four nice ones, two ended up being each of our over 24 inch, and the other two were right at 23 inches, so they were all keepers, and if we didn't have to go home, we probably could have caught our limit of five a piece with one over 24 inches, and probably with no more than 12 or 14 casts to do it... After B caught the first one, there were only one or two casts between the both of us that didn't catch anything, and that was due to fish knowing where the rocks are in this spot.

All in all pretty fun, but I would have loved to have had another 20 minutes or so.

Anyway, anyone had any spectacular fishing since I've been on last?

My mom and I went up to fly fish the Deschtes River in Oregon and fished it for a couple days. On the first day, I threw a Prince Nymph into a seam and pulled a couple rainbows out. The next day, I found a pool that had at least 20 10 inchers so I put out an Elk Hair Caddis and Adams and both caught 4 fish so I had a productive time up there. Mom caught 3 those two days

It always sucks when that happens. I actually went out to one of my favorite lakes last weekend to fish for some german browns. We rented out a boat and had it for 6 hours. We went out to the very end of the river portion of this lake and got a few bites, but nothing took. It got to about 20 minutes before the boat had to be back and at trolling speed, 20 minutes is what it takes to get from where we were to the marina. On our way back, trolling, nothing was happening until we got to the spot where "no fishing" was posted. I began to reel in and as I was doing so, hooked into a nice 7 pound brown. Couldn't cast out again because of the restricted zone and couldn't turn around to go back because the rental was up. Eh, got one and enjoyed it... better than nothing.

My biggest catch this year was a 50lb stingray and 7 other stingray that were of smaller size. I have caught many mackerel, smelt, and perches also. My freshwater fishing has been limited only caught catfsih of 2-6lb range

Hello you. I hardly recognize you without that top contributor badge. :D

A lot of regulars left while you were gone. Y/A fishing section kind of sucked because of this. Fishing kind of sucked for me this year so far. I haven't land anything that could be considered eye openers yet. But, it is alway great to see an old regular. :)
