What is that white thing called, where painters paint their art on?

Umm... you mean a canvas or are you talking like artist paper propped on an easel while you paint. A canvas is a piece of paper basically stretched around a wood frame so thats probably what you mean.

painters paint on all sort of things. But if you are talking about canvas. it's a cloth stretched on a wood frame and is usually primed with a primer.

To determine if something is or is not art, you must first have a definition of art. If what you see meets that definition, then it's art.
