how long does an army tour to korea have to be to bring dependents?

My boyfriend got orders for korea and we haven't got all the facts yet. Osan is a base where you can bring spouse and family with you but I also heard the tour has to be 3 years long and his is only 1 year. Is this true?

He will need to become Command Sponsored and the tour will be a minimum of 2 years with dependents and a option for a bonus to do 3 years.

1-year assignments to Korea are unaccompanied, meaning that he will not be able to sponsor dependents while he is there.
