Hong Kong works by an average monthly salary for any given type of job, retail and hospitality jobs particularly are constantly in high demand as HK is the shopping and tourism paradise in Asia.
For inexperienced, high school fresh grads, the average monthly salary is around HK$7,000 - 9,000. For experienced and college/university graduates, say around late 20s - early 30s years of age, the average monthly pay can be anywhere between HK$10,000+ - 20,000. Normally company will give a minimum 13 months pay as year end bonus.

Hong Kong government does not mandate a minimum wage, and a lot of labor unions there are pushing the government to set it at around HK$35 which is a little less than US$5. A survey found that the current entry level hourly wage is around HK$24 or US$3. Retail and hospitality workers might make around US$1,000 a month on average but working maybe 50 hours per week.

Monthly pay for entry admin jobs and entry hospitality jobs are around 5000-7000HKD a month.
However this does not tell the full story as working hours are MUCH longer in HK than in say the US or Europe, therefore if you divide this down people are often paid $8-$13 an hour.
Have a look at the HK government jobs website the wages are all very low, because there are 1000s of immigrant indonesians filipinos willing to work for nothing and live in deplorable conditions.
