If I were renting camels, chances are that I'd have access to food (perhaps brought from home). Why would I pay $100? People who rent camels don't go into the desert without bringing food or knowing that they'll have access to food.
Now, if I were stranded in the desert (and not working there) and someone came along with cake and lemonade... then, yes, I would.

well that combination doesnt sound very good...but maybe for a six pack of mikes hard lemonade and a big turkey sandwich! XD yum! haha
