This is purely a coincidence. In June, New York City normally receives 3.45 inches of rain. New York City has a humid, subtropical climate which is highly influenced by warm, tropical air that comes up from the South. Due to this climate New York City receives an abundance of rain every month of the year with May being the wettest.
