Just for fun, what kind of dog do you have and where did you get him/her?
Hi everybody! Just thought it would be fun to see what kinds of dogs you have, and where you got them! :)
I have a German Shepherd and (probably) Lab mix. He is mostly German Shepherd though, but has the floppy ears.
I got him from the shelter when he was about 6 months or so old. He was abandoned when his family moved. (I do believe that is the story) He is now 9 years old!
Lots of Luck!
aww guys I love these stories. And I was 3/4 years old when we got my dog. So I am 13 and he is 9. He still acts like a puppy, but his body is getting older. He isn't letting it get to him though!

I have a 2 year old basset hound who I rescued from an abusive byb-ing home. Her name is Sombra, and she's difficult as can be but I love her dearly.
I also have a 2 month old boxer x blue heeler mutt...apparently the family had a registered boxer and a registered blue heeler (Australian cattle dog) they intended to stud out the boxer and sell pure Blue Heelers to earn some money, but the boxer got loose and well, you can figure out what happened haha. The sad part is that they screwed up and were trying to get people to take the puppies, but when they couldn't get rid of them all they decided they were going to take them to the animal shelter...where they would have only had 5 days to live...so I cried over the poor puppies and my fiance felt terrible because it was upsetting me and went back and got one of them so I would feel better about it...
We also succeeded in giving away 4 of her siblings to friends in the area so I felt even better. :D

You did the right thing in saving that little fella. People could be so mean sometimes, to just abandon their pets.
I have a Shih Tzu, I'm thinking he's mixed. His name is JR I got him when he was 6 weeks old (turning 4 this August) from a Pet Store. YES, I know 6 weeks is TOO young, and YES I know I shouldn't have purchased from a Pet Store but that was almost 4 years ago and I didn't know any better. Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone learns from them. I know better now, how I should buy from a reputable breeder or to save a life from the Shelter and my next dog will be from either the two (shelter or reputable breeder).
JR is seriously the best dog I could ever own, though. He's my first dog ever.

I have an American Pit Bull Terrier and i found him as i walking down town and seen a lady (strung out on something or another) holding a very small pet kennel and she said she was trying to sell the puppy. He was about 3-4 months old nothing but skin and bones & had defecated all over him self and the kennel. And of course i couldn't leave the lil guy in there or with her so i gave her $40 and took the puppy home.
Got him all cleaned up took him to the vet and they said he was healthy other then the obvious need for food and then rehabilitated him into the beautiful dog you see in display picture.
He is now getting close to 4 y/o.

I have a yellow labrador retriever and her name is Lizzie. She is 5 years old and she is my puppy for life :D My parents decided to get her for me 2 days before christmas and the shelters were going to make them wait a couple weeks before we could get a dog. So they went to the mall and got my puppy. But she was in-bread and tore both her ACLs in the past year (do to in-breading) and has had quite a bit of surgery. Other than that she is fantastic and loves to run at the dog park. Next time I think we will defiantly go to a shelter or breeder.

American Pit Bull Terrier - 3 years ago. I heard a shady family in my parents neighborhood had pit bull puppies so I put on my concerned animal activist hat and bought one ( I could only afford one) for $100. I made a promise that day to change the life of one dog that was heading for fighting and give him a life of luxury. Bauer is a big baby nowadays and shows no aggression to other dogs (although he doesn't get along with cats) and he lives a great life with me and my fiance. He's a part of the family.

I have an AWESOME golden retriever! I got her from a breeder in Decatur. She was $200, but it was worth all that money- my dog is priceless! She is 2 years and 5 months now. She is in my profile display picture above my name Clover.
