Only two things will stop an engine dead and then allow it to restart again later. One is electrics, the other is fuel. To rule out electrics you need to run the engine until it stops then remove a spark plug lead and put a new or "known to be operational" spark plug in the plug lead boot. Earth the metal body of the spark plug to the engine and crank the engine over. If that plug creates a spark then you can rule out an electrical problem.

Now to fuel. I don't know if your Celica is fuel injected or carburetter fed so it's hard to diagnose. I'd be tracing fuel lines to see if they are running close to any sauce of extreme heat such as exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes. This could lead to vaporization of fuel in the line causing it not to pump through. If it's Fuel injected then it could be the Engine Management Computer at fault.

The first thing I would do is the spark plug test. At least then you will know which road to head down.

    Wishing you lots of luck.

Found this.........These cars are known for two things 'when hot'. Igniter assembly and/or Pick Up coil assembly.

Its probably an igniter though :( $$$$ - Little silver box either in the distributor or an assembly on the fender well.

    Good luck
