Will you be happy if the U.S. Gov't takes over BP and jails all their top exec's for twenty years plus fines?
Being they are the 4th largest multi-national in the world and the devastation they've caused is impossible to calculate--I'm thinking we should own all their assets and make em all prisoner's of environmental war.

Well, nationalizing a foreign owned company would be a nice new trick.
If we can simply nationalize foreign oil companies, why bother invading the sandbox? we could Just do some happy little legal dance and take the oil without using troops!

I will be happy if the human race colonizes the solar system within fifty years so I can see what it's like before I die. BP is just this year's public representative for the horrors of modern industry. All sorts of people make all sorts of mistakes, but the only ones people seem to care about are the ones televised on CNN.
For instance, are you aware that the United States dropped two (2) nuclear bombs on dense Japanese population centers filled with mostly innocent civilians? Whether or not that was a good decision at the time is irrelevant. What matters is, if Fox News picked up that story today, do you know what they'd do with it? Skew it to portray their own perverted view of reality until they were satisfied with whatever portion of the public they could affect became outraged at the government.
In another fifty years, people will look back at this oil spill and understand that accidents happen in a world filled with a hunger for pure energy. Drilling for that oil is necessary to keep our human civilization operational. Mistakes happen along the way, but the industry is necessary nonetheless, and no reasonable person can argue that point.
Would I be happy if BP's executives were jailed? I'd be outraged at a glorious failure of the US justice system (which, by the way, wouldn't apply to British citizens) if that were to happen. Complete (100%) financial responsibility is in order though, if only to sate the appetites of the bloodthirsty dogs of the media and to keep this nation's mental stability in check.

No... I don't want to waste tax payers money on keeping him in prison... I want the BP execs to work at a minimum wage job for the rest of their lives to pay off the damage they caused...
It's bullsh*t that we have to work low paying, hard working, jobs.... and they get to be in an office looking down on us as if we were nothing in comparison.

That will not happen, that can not happen, and it should not happen. I think large fines will be in plce, but the top executives have not committed any crimes.. The US government cannot just take over a company either.. stupid question

US can take over nothing, they are under British sovereignty, and protected by INternational Law. US can act as spill happens in their territory, but they can only take this matter to court.

Government is the problem. Government is not the solution. Say this out loud ten times. Maybe it will sink in.

jail them? no thats stupid. they should return any damages and pay for the clean up.
also at JOHN - you think they were given the jobs? maybe if you had finished high school you wouldnt be in such a **** job and wouldnt have to work minumum wage. they were given the job because they are smarter and work harden than you do. so please. grow up.
