Question about my betta fish?

My daughter brought home a Betta fish and it is in a clear vase. I want to put a plant on top with the roots hanging in the water... I have bought a Nephthytis exotic bold plant, and I am wondering if this plant will kill my fish. Any suggestions on what kind of plant if this one isn't the right one to use..

That is fine. Bettas won't die unless they are old or you TRY to kill them

bettas are NOT supposed to live in a vase. it needs at least 5 gallons with a heater and a filter. some people think that when they have a betta in a vase and they plug the top with a plant, that the betta will eat the roots of the plants. NO THEY WONT. bettas are carnivours

In all reality the betta shouldn't be in that vase, he should be in a 5 gallon heated and filtered tank. Its not the plant you have to worry about killing him, its the vase.
