I MADE THE FIRST Tennis World Cup draw EVER! VOTE NOW! tournament includes the best 2 men & women players only?
It'd be like each country has a team consisting on their top players ONLY 1 man and 1 woman (the best ranked players of the country in ATP and WTA) just playing singles, and in case of a tie, a mixed doubles match would be played, again with these 2 players per team. if you didnt get me, here's an example: Great Britain vs Belgium: Murray beats Rochus, and then Clijsters beats Baltacha. So, there'd be a mixed doubles match like this: Murray and Baltacha vs Clijsters and Rochus.
Here's how the thing is: you guys vote each week for the teams that get through each round. The teams with the most votes on each tie are going to be OFICCIALY in the next round. Voting for the bew round start every Saturday night, with voting ending on Wednesdays, along with a post of the results.
Oh, and just so you know, I'll randomly (according to players H2H) pick a surface for the tie. For example, if the players met like 2 times at hard court, then the tie will be on hard.
Here's the draw, each team is seeded according to their best ranked players:
(1) SERBIA (Djokovic and Jankovic)
PARAGUAY (Delgado and de Los Rios)
ITALIA (Starace and Schiavone)
(16) LATVIA (Gulbis and Sevastova)
(9) SWITZERLAND (Federer and Bacsinszky)
TAIPEI (Lu and Chan)
UZBEKISTAN (Istomin and Amanmuradova)
(8) GERMANY (Kohlschreiber and Petkovic)
(5) SPAIN (Nadal and Martinez Sanchez)
COLOMBIA (Giraldo and Duque Marino)
KAZAKHSTAN (Korolev and Shvedova)
(12) UKRANIA (Dolgopolov Jr. and A. Bondarenko)
(13) AUSTRIA (Melzer and Bammer)
SWEDEN (Soderling and Arvidsson)
SLOVENIA (Zelmja and Zec Peskiric (who?))
(4) FRANCE (Tsonga and Bartoli)
(3) USA (Roddick and Serena)
NETHERLANDS (De Bakker and Krajicek)
ISRAEL (Sela and Peer)
(14) POLAND (Kubot and A. Radwanska)
(11) ARGENTINA (del Potro and Dulko)
SLOVAKIA (Lacko and Hantuchova)
INDIA (Devvarman and Mirza)
(6) CZECH REPUBLIC (Berdych and Safarova)
(7) AUSTRALIA (Hewitt and Stosur)
SOUTH AFRICA (Anderson and Scheepers)
CROATIA (Cilic and Martic)
(10) ROMANIA (Hanescu and Dulgheru)
(15) BELGIUM (O. Rochus and Clijsters)
GREAT BRITAIN (Murray and Baltacha)
JAPAN (Soeda and Morita)
(2) RUSSIA (Davydenko and Dementieva)
So, now that you gave a look to the draw, it's time to start the tournament: here are the ties:
Give a result to each tie (e.g. 2-0 or 2-1)
Serbia vs Paraguay - On hard court
Italia vs Latvia - On clay

Australia vs South Africa - On hard
Croatia vs Romania - On clay

Oh! Great Idea =)
Serbia vs Paraguay - On hard court - Most definitely Serbia 2-0, Djokovic and Jankovic would be just way too much for Delgado and de Los Rios, Serbia has more than enough experience and talent to shut out Paraguay.
Italia vs Latvia - On clay - I'm going to go with an upset here (even though neither are seeded I would still think of it as an upset) and say that Latvia would win. I would imagine that on clay Gulbis would win (based off of his great results on clay this year) and Schiavone would win for Italy but in doubles I think Latvia would pull it off so Latvia 2-1
Switzerland vs Taipei - On grass Switzerland 2-0, Roger is obviously going to win his match, and he'll inspire the other one (with the annoyingly long name) to win.
Uzbekistan vs Germany - On hard - Germany definitely, both of their players would beat Uzbekistan's best any day (lol although I haven't looked at H2H). Germany 2-0
Spain vs Colombia - on grass: Nadal and Sanchez both have games which make them successful on grass (lol having a former Wimbledon champ on the team sure helps) so I say Spain over Columbia 2-0
Kazakhstan vs Ukraine - On clay - Kazakhstan 2-1, Korolev and Shvedova are both really good, but I don't think Korolev does well on clay so he would lose his singles match and then he would make it up for playing well in the doubles.
Austria vs Sweden - On hard - Sweden here cause Soderling is more than talented enough to get his win over Melzer, and even if Arvidsson can't beat Bammer, I have enough faith that Soderling and Arvidsson could pull together for the doubles and win 2-1
Slovenia vs France - carpet - Haha Franche 2-0, no description needed...
USA vs Netherlands - On hard - USA 2-0, lol Serena and Andy could clean up almost any other group of players.
Israel vs Poland - On clay - Hmmmm I'll say Poland in a gripping encounter that sees Poland barely squeeze by in a super tight doubles match. Poland 2-1
Argentina vs Slovakia - On hard - Well Del Potro is really injured so I'm not sure if we are counting that right now or if we are pretending he is healthy for this. Either way I'm going to pick Slovakia for the upset since I think that Dulko and Del Potro would lose in doubles. If we are putting into fact that Del Potro is injured then Slovakia 2-0, if not then Slovakia 2-1
India vs Czech Republic - On hard - The Czech Republic would dominate them big time even if I was being optimistic although Devvarman could trouble Berdych a bit. Czech Republic 2-0
Australia vs South Africa - On hard - Another domination match supposing that Stosur is somewhere near an acceptable form rather than the other form we know she is capable of where she pretty much can't play tennis. Australia 2-0
Croatia vs Romania - On clay - Hanescu is pretty decent on clay, and Dulgheru is really good on clay, so I'm going to say that Romania will scrap this one out with a 2-0 win.
Belgium vs Great Britain - On hard - I think that Murray would demolish Rochus and Clijsters would take down Baltacha, but Murray has never been very good at doubles no matter his partner, so I think Belgium would win 2-1
Japan vs Russia - grass - Russia with an extremely quick 2-0 victory...

Do you know that this is the awesomest thing ever, haha.
I like the fact that you didn't just choose the big rig tennis countries (Spain, Russia, USA) and you added ones like South Africa, and Paraguay..
Fo my votes
1. I think Serbia would win 2-0, as much as I love De Los Rios, Jankovic is playing really well, and even Djokovic, who isn't in top form could beat Delgado
2. Italy in 3. BTW how weird is it that Schiavone is the #1 Italian and not Pennetta! So even though Sevatsova is a solid up-and-comming teen, Franny is a Grand Slam champion. Gulbis would beat Potito, and since Schiavone is a good dubs player, Italy would win.
3. I was expecting that soo way shoo way (how do you spell her name, she got to the 4th round of the Aussie Open in 08, and lost to Henin..), but Switzerland in 2. Federer and Bacsinszky would easily win.
4. I think Germany would win in three. Petkovic is very talented and Kohlshrieber is a veteran..However, Istomin or Amanmuradova would win one..
5. Spain..in two..but I give credit to the two Colombians, who are very good :)
6. This one's tough, but I'll say Kazakhstan in 3 (because it's clay)
7. Austria in 3! Arvidsson would blow it for Sod
8. Good choice in surface, lol..France in 2, haha
9. USA is going to own this tournament, Roddick and Serena in 2
10. This is actually quite interesting..but Kubot and Radwanska in 3
11. Argentina in 2 (a healthy DelPo, right?)
12. Czech Republic in 2
13. I love Anderson and Scheepers, but Australia is hot. Hewitt won in Halle, and Stosur is a French Open finalist
14. ROMANIA..Dulgheru and Hanescu will beat them in doubles!
15 Rochus is Belgium's downfall, GB in 3
16. I'm surprised Date Krumm isn't Japan's #1..Russia in 2, of course.
so..
SERBIA
ITALY
SWITZERLAND
GERMANY
SPAIN
KAZAKHSTAN
AUSTRIA
FRANCE
USA
POLAND
ARGENTINA
CZECH REPUBLIC
AUSTRALIA
ROMANIA
GREAT BRITAIN
RUSSIA
:)
BTW I double checked myself and I was right. Date Krumm is the #1 Japanese woman. Morita isn't even in the top 100 :O
