Do you have to wear a wet suit while surfing?

It all depends on where you live.

Florida? Most likely never have to where a wet suit.

California? Dont go into the water without one.

A rash guard is just to protect you tender skin so if you are going to go out everyday where one so you wont get tore up and you can keep surfing.

sometimes if you live in Ireland like me you have to wear wetsuits, in the winter i like to wear something like a 5/3mm and summer 3/2 mm,

In Australia or some place like that you do not need a wetsuit because the water is more heated,

the surf report usually will tell you the temperature of the water if it is something like 14 degrees you can wear a summer wet suit(3/2 mm).

A rash guard can be worn in any temperature water it stops sunburn and stings from jellyfish etc.

i myself would recommend wetsuits for surfing.

And if you want to ask questions like this i would recommend putting where you are from.

With wetsuits it goes like this, a 5/3mm wetsuit will have 5mm in the chest area and all around it 3mm such as legs and arms.

With shoes i like to wear a 5mm all year round and my dad likes a 3mm but that counts on where you like and the temperature of the water.
