What do yorkie puppies eat?

So I'm going to buy a Yorkshire Terrier puppy and I don't know what they eat. What food do I buy them?

Thanks <3

When my Yorkie was a lil pup, he wouldn't eat at all- my vet suggested two things-

    1. nasty smelling wet cat food, either alone or mixed in his kibble.

I would start it alone, just to see if there is any interest. To a dog "stinky = yummy"!

    2. Try shredded cheddar cheese. Again first try in alone and if he

likes it, then put it in his kibble. It will fall to the bottom of the bowl and the idea is, that as he is routing around to get the morsels of cheese, he will start eating some of the kibble. I have done this with rice as well.

Lastly- I recommend trying Solid Gold "Wee Bits" or any specially made kibble in tiny bites, because for a Yorkie the kibble needs to be very small. This has been a good size for my lil 6 pounder. He also loves the roasted chicken you buy ready made at the grocery store- rotisserie chicken that I tear into bite size for him. Yum!

It is still ok to give your pup the Ceaser's food that she loves, however, kibble is beneficial in keeping your girls teeth in good shape- Yorkies are very prone to dental problems!

The small kibble is also specially formulated to give balanced nutrition to dogs that only eat small amounts of food.

    Good Luck!

a quality puppy food. petfoodproject.com is written by an animal nutritionist and can help you pick out the best food, as well as talk to the breeder to find out what they are feeding any sudden change in diet can cause diarrhea and it is best if you do switch foods to do it in a two week time frame.

The puppy should be at least 8 weeks old.

Diamond puppy food is made for dog breeders, but, if you are buying the puppy at a young age, such as 6 weeks, Diamond puppy food is the right choice. When the puppy gets a few weeks older, switch to Iams puppy food.

You can buy a dried complete mix for puppies, it has everything they need in it protein calcium etc, start on that and then introduce meat at a later date

dog food. Seriously keep them on the food the breeder feeds. At least until 6 months old then do a slow switch to whatever you want them on.
