Military Question-Ft. Nathaniel Green-1940's-Where Was It Located...?

and can you tell me anything more about it; I picked up a book today that was given to the Fort Greene Post Library as a "Gift of the People of the United States Through the Victory Book Campaign (A.L.A. - A.R.C. - U.S.O To the (something something) Merchant Marine."

The book is a 2nd edition Robert Frost book "A Witness Tree" and is in almost pristine condition: has a library sheet on the inside back cover with 3 numbers:

811 in upper right inside corner

G700 on the library sheet but crossed out and above inserted

G2526

The library sheet is clean-nothing was ever checked out.

This intrigues me and I can't find anything on Google.

What's the Fort Nathaniel Greene story?

Anyone?

Fort Nathaniel Greene was in Rhode Island, and there is still a Fort Greene there in Naragansett Harbor. Most of the area is now Fishermen's Memorial State Park. You can read some of the history of the park and the fort that once stood there at the Web page below.

In looking up the Web page, I also ran across this, which is a cleanup plan for pollution at Fort Greene. If you scroll down the page, however, you will see a history of the Fort.

(NOTE: You may get a warning message about the security of the site, which I got as well . They apparently have not updated their Web security registration. But since it is a .mil Web page--run by the US Army--I am not particularly worried about whether they have their paperwork in order.)

    I hope this helps.
