1998 Chevy Caviler 2.2L Overheating??? Help?

Ok this car is my worst nightmare. All at once the thermostat gauge when out so I replaced the coolant tempature sensor, no help gauge is still not working. replaced thermostat and gasket, coolant cap. I also bled the air out of the coolant. everyone is telling me that there is a one wire sensor on this motor that controls the coolant tempature gauge but there is not on this car. I have also had alot of people tell me that it could be a water pump but the water is flowing through the block.

also the fans are not kicking on for the engine so i am thinking that there is a problem that links together the coolant temp gauge and the cooling fans. but what could it be i have checked all fuses and i have checked all relays when i turned the ac on the fans kicked on but i would have to check they are not now but i dont think that they kicked themselves on for heat.

any thoughts or ideas will greatly help

There should be a two wire sensor at the front of your engine in the cylinder head. That sensor sends signal to computer, computer turns on cooling fan relay. As far as your gauge goes there is no sensor for your gauge. It is most likely controlled by your computer also via the coolant temp sensor. Email me if you need further assistance....

Water must be going someplace. it somewhat is the two a leak or is being ate up into the engine. IF the engine isn't misfireing or down on capacity it somewhat is in all probability no longer the top gasket. it somewhat is achievable for the coolant to get into the cylinders in spite of the undeniable fact that it could bring about an incredible sort of steam from the tailpipe or water interior the oil. Coolant interior the oil will make it brown and frothy goo, no different thank you to describe it. the significant here is your remark which you have steam popping out the vents. It sounds such as you have a leak interior the heater middle. This has allowed you to run low on coolant AND the leak won't shelter the stress required interior the equipment to maintain it from boiling. there is countless recommendations here and it relies upon on the vehicle. A ninety six with intense milage won't justify a $2000 rebuild so pray it isn't the top gasket. you are able to take it for a tension bleed down attempt which might inform you the place the leak is outdoors the engine. it isn't costly and could shop you from chasing straws. on the low end you are able to continually placed a bottle of Bars Leak in and need for the terrific. With a leaky heater middle you are able to run the vehicle with the bars leak WITH THE HEATER set to complete warm. I actually have a ninety six mini van which has been working merely high-quality this manner for 2 years. while that is going the subsequent quit is vehicle recycler nevertheless. BTW the temp gauge won't be able to study air temp in basic terms coolant. in case you're low on coolant it won't tutor warm. verify you're carrying greater and determine it somewhat is complete previously you run it.
