I have a question for Lesbians?

I was hoping I did not offend my friends. I was describing something that happened at work with a woman who rides a Harley Davidson. As I was telling the story I realized I used "butch" as a word to describe her and mentioned she rode a big ol Harley - inferring she was gay. One of my gay friends looked at her friend who is "butch" and I didnt know it but she rides a motorcycle too. Afterwards I apologized but they laughed and said that i they were laughing at something else. I felt awkward - did I do something wrong?

LOL I agree with rugger 100%. When my straight friends use the word "butch" I find it entertaining.

I don't think there's a problem. If you're comfortable with them, they already know that you're not a homophobe and therefore not using the term in a degrading manner.

If you're anxious about it, you could always apologize. You'll feel a lot better.

You didn't do anything wrong, unless you knew for sure she was gay. Riding a motorbike does not denote sexual orientation, contrary to anyone that disagrees.

I don't think so, they probably just were amused that you used the lingo.
