Don't think you must get the latest or newest headphone. Some of the best/most popular pro models have been around for over 10 years. The Sony XB line probably suits you. The regular Sony V line is always popular. Other good brands are AKG, Sennheiser, and AT. The better headphones usually have a flat frequency response. If you are looking to enhance bass you may be disappointed with the top models.
How a headphone sounds and feels is a personal matter. If you are serious about it, you should really try a few at a good electronics store. What works for me may be unimpressive to you and vice versa.
