What is an Amp Trigger Wire? '95 Mercury Cougar.?

I have a 95' Mercury Cougar and am installing a new aftermarket stereo. Everything is fine so far as I purchased a Scoche wire harness for Ford 86 and up. I was looking up wiring diagrams and found one that said that the "Dark Blue" wire was the "Amp Trigger Wire". I don't believe that I have an amplifier in my vehicle but the harness does not connect the wire to my new aftermarket radio.

What does this "Amp Trigger Wire" do? and is it necessary for operation of the radio?

remote turn on, and even if you had a factory amp, it more than likely would have to be bypassed with your new radio.ford radio systems often run a common or front/rear common ground.the amp would be set up for that, and so would the speakers, but not your radio 9/10 times.you might want to make sure you have individual grounds to the speakers if the schematic calls for it.never mind the amp remote.

no leave it tape it up until/if you plan on getting an amplifier. it basically turns the amp on when you turn your radio on
