Why do people get fetishes?

There is a logical reason and it begins in childhood between the ages of 18 -24 months. This is when children begin to discover that they exist separately from their Mother. If Mother does not allow them self-actualization, and instead shows signs of separation anxiety herself- she can cling to the child- making the child exist solely for her. The child fails to form their own ego and self centeredness and grows into an adult who is triggered in a sadomasochistic transference to other people and objects. Since the child was objectified, other people are also objectified and this includes objects that trigger or remind the person of the original parental object. This can include shoes, perfume, aprons, plush toys, diapers, baby powder, etc. as well as leather whips and chains that symbolize the original bondage with the Mother.
