Stretch every morning when you first wake up, every night before you go to sleep (Between 5 and 15 minutes each). Stretch every time after you workout or exercise.
Also, do timed splits; I do three minutes (at the very very lowest) of each split. No matter how long you do it, once a minute contract your muscles (without coming out of your split), for 10 seconds, then relax your muscles and you should be able to go back down farther.
Drink LOTS of water. If you are dehydrated, you will not have enough water in your muscles and it will be much harder to get more flexible. It is also not good for you. Do not drink soda because it really dehydrates you, and also fills your stomach with gas so you do not fell the need to drink any more when you really need to.
Hope this helps :)
I did this for about half a week and got my left split. The other leg took about a week.
Maybe even try yoga!
For stretches, you can do a straddle and lean to each side and the middle. Here are some pictures of good split stretches with directions:
Source(s): I do cheerleading, gymnastics, dance, and matrial arts (all require you to be flexible) :) Good Luck!!!!! - 1 decade ago
If you were a gymnast I would think you would know that there aren't any fast ways to regain flexibility. You just have to stretch everyday until it gets better. If you try to force it to quickly you will get hurt.

you may artwork on your flexibility to help your kicks, no longer artwork on your kicks to improve your flexibility...you may harm your self in case you're no longer top stretching and warming up.
