Has anyone here been to the George Washington Masonic Memorial in Alexandra, VA?

I'm going to be there later this month, and want to know what to expect, and what is the best way to get there from the Georgetown area.

I was there quite a few years ago, but I don't think it has changed much. They will take you up a small elevator to several levels, including one that has an outdoor view, one that has a Masonic Library, and several that explain the different aspects of the Freemasonry. It's worth going to once, particularly if you are interested in the Masons or George Washington.

Here's a link to their website:

I notice that they now charge a tour fee (it used to be free).

It's located right across the street from the King Street Metro station--you can't miss its tower. From Georgetown, you'd probably want to get to the nearest Metro station in DC--probably Foggy Bottom. You can either walk, or take the DC Circulator bus. At Foggy Bottom, get on a Blue line train towards Virginia and stay on it until you arrive at the King Street station. When you exit the station, turn left and turn left again at the corner. Walk under the railroad trestle and you're there.

and a link for the DC Circulator bus:

Thanks for the nice words, Nick! We're all working hard to make this part of YA a useful place...

I can't top Don's answer here, so I will instead change the topic.

I am presently visiting another state and had a conversation here today with a friend of mine that spent about a year living and working in the Washington DC metropolitan area. He said he missed Washington DC because the people in the area are more intelligent and can actually carry a conversation.

So, look at Don W's reply here. The man uses proper English punctuation throughout and even provides great links for the benefit of the asker and all others that find this topic interesting. Now...compare and contrast the replies you get in the Washington DC Travel section...to those offered in other areas of Yahoo Answers.

EDIT: You're quite welcome Don. But just don't expect too much from me all the time. You know, sometimes I just have to let my inner troll loose.
