PS3 or Wii gaming console?
I'm looking to buy a seventh generation gaming console, but I'm not sure with what I should go. I've played PS1 and PS2 and it seems to me that PS3 has loads better (and more serious) games than Wii. But I'm a fan of Nintendo classics such as Mario Bros and Zelda - plus I'm looking to try something different.
What's the best buy? Wii or PS3?

Xbox 360 with "Kinect" - basically a Wii and a PS3 together. (minus a blu-ray player)

Depends what you're in for. Since you mentioned internet gaming, that throws Wii out the window to be run over by a truck automatically, leaving the gool ol' PS3 vs 360 argument. 360 is more economic seeing as the cheapest version of it is only $200. Also most of the amazing games are on both consoles so you can rest assured that you are not missing out on much if you choose only one HD console. Other than MGS4, Little Big Planet, 2D type fighters (better controllers), and maybe Ratchet and Clank, the true gaming soul (SPECIALLY multiplayer) belongs to the 360 this generation. I have all 3 consoles with the following games. 360: Gears of War 1 & 2, Halo 3, GTAIV, Dead Rising, CoD: World at War, & Bioshock. PS3: Dead Space, MGSIV, Soul Calibur IV, & Uncharted Wii: SSB Brawl, Mario Galaxy, Zack & Wiki, Metroid Prime 3, and like 10+ bunch of other games I don't really care much for. From my experiences with all 3, specially the Wii, I can tell you that the real games and online experiences belong to the 360 & PS3. Wii just doesn't cut it more than a couple of weeks with its mini-game collections of games... Outside of the first 4 games I mentioned for the Wii, there's pretty much nothing that justifies purchasing that system. If you ever hear a "gamer" saying they bought the Wii solely for Wario Ware, Carnival Games, Mario Party, Wii Fit, is either insane or has been threatened to say that. Honestly, the DS is miles better than the Wii...

OH THE WII FOR SURE!!!
Sarcasm ftw...
In all seriousness the PS3.
The Wii's control is a load of whale crap and the only thing I would even recommend on there is the virtual console so you can get old NES and Genesis games. (Among MANY MANY others).
The PS3 actually has good games for ITS OWN system. There are plenty of good exclusive games like God of War, M.A.G., ect. and you can get a BlueRay player with the PS3 as well! The only good Wii exclusive game is Super Mario Galaxy and Zelda.... well it's cool but you would be better off just getting it for the gamecube and then playing it on your Wii (FIRST NINTENDO [home, not portable] CONSOLE WITH BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY FTW! The Wii can't even play DVDs.

If you're purely going to play and get games like mario bros and zelda, then get the wii, otherwise I would highly recommend the ps3.
Right now I got a ps3, and if i had enough money i would get a nintendo wii. xbox is out of the question with the ring of red & having to pay to play online (fixed some ring of red problems for my friends xbox)
get a ps3, and get ff13, god of war 3, and definitely Killzone 2!!!

first of all DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY A NINTENDO WII! they are bad horrible, only buy a wii if you dont consider yourself a hardcore gamer. wiis i would say are only for people who only want to play a games console once in a while and ps3 are for playing all the time. and ps3s are hd while wiis arent. personally i would get an xbox since it has better online features and now has built in wifi but if i was you i would get a ps3
Source(s): i have a wii myself, bought it 2 years ago played it for about 2 months and then just left it there. - Anonymous1 decade ago
I have both, had my wii longer than my ps3, i've got 6 games for my wii and 20 something for ps3.
The wii has some cracking games on it that simply couldn't exist on any other console but that's it, once the novelty wears off, it's had it til the next mind blowing game comes along.
The ps3 is my entertainment centre, Video games, music, video, the whole shebang, whether i'm streaming video from my laptop to my ps3 or playing games, i'd be lost without my ps3.

I personally like PS3 better because of the wide variety of games. The only games I like for Wii are WiiSports and Brawl. Also you hear of people breaking Wiis more than PS3. Also PS3 has more functions.

PS3! for me...
but it's your choice.
Go to a gaming shop and try both and see which one is better for you
but its always PS3 for me, it has wifi, can play Blu-Ray and can surf the web, play online
and download games, create user, save movies, photos and music. And lots more!
I don't really know much about the Wii
I think the Wii Console is more like a family console
and PS3 is especially made for Gaming Pro's..
I like both ad i used both but I'd still buy the PS3
GOODLUCK (:
LOL

i honestly never touch my wii, the last game i bought for it was the orignal super mario galaxy. i love my ps3 though it just comes out with better games. but the wii is good if you really love Nintendo games, but if you want to play more hardcore games you want the ps3.

i'd say ps3.....the wii is lame and for little kids, but if you want mario bros and zelda you may like that more...it is pretty cool but gets old using that stick for controller real quick./...you already have 7 consoles why not make it 9 and get both if you got the money
