What is the "Politically Correct" way to refer to "Native Americans" from Mexico or Latin America?
If you say "American Indians" in the US you are corrected and told to say "Native Americans". But when referring to natives of Mexico and other countries what is the correct term? "Native Mexicans" "American Indians"? I know sometimes in Spanish the term Indio is used but I did not know if it was alright or not.
I know the Canadians refer to 'First Nations".
Sorry, I didn't know that was an insult, I won't use it. And I know they started in Asia, I mean the people who live in Mexico and Latin American countries now who are "Indians".

Each indigenous tribe from South of our border down have their very own *correct* name and culture, Aztecs, Mayans, Incas, ...etc. The only true "Native Americans" are the ones from the USA, because the national identity of a person depends on the specific country that they are from, not on the "continent" they are from.

I don't think there is a politically correct term, they are just referred as "indiginas". The word Indio is used as an insult and not correct.
