Did anybody notice, in 2008, people said the Republicans were 'dead'?
All kinds of stories were on the news of how big a loss the Republicans had suffered and could they recover? And the same for the Democrats in 1994 when the Republicans took the House (and Senate, I think) or when Reagan had so many 'Reagan democrats' in his time?
I'm not taking sides, just making an observation. What do you think will happen in 2 years? But if people aren't happy with the Republican House, will the Republicans stay in power?
6 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoOn Y&R do you think Jill found the right long lost sister, like maybe look beyond GC? Like maybe to Glee?
I mean I don't really watch "Glee" much, but has anybody else noticed a resemblance in personality if not looks (not much in looks) between Jill Abbott (Fenmore) and Sue whatever-her-name is on "Glee"?
I mean, I see no resemblance to Lauren Fenmore Baldwin. Jill and Sue even sound something alike.
4 AnswersSoap Operas1 decade agoON Y&R, did anything 'go on' between Victor and Meggie in Canada? I mean could she be pregnant?
I mean she shows up at his doorstep and is barely in the door when she faints. I didn't see the whole shows the days he was in Canada chasing Adam. Is there anyway she could have gotten pregnant with his child? Or is it like he and Meggie told Nikki, nothing went on.
4 AnswersSoap Operas1 decade agoWhat is the "Politically Correct" way to refer to "Native Americans" from Mexico or Latin America?
If you say "American Indians" in the US you are corrected and told to say "Native Americans". But when referring to natives of Mexico and other countries what is the correct term? "Native Mexicans" "American Indians"? I know sometimes in Spanish the term Indio is used but I did not know if it was alright or not.
I know the Canadians refer to 'First Nations".
7 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoWhat do British people think of American accents?
Somebody just asked that about how Americans liked British accents. So I was wondering how it is, the other way around. Of course, we have many different accents, not one, so some might not like Brooklyn (New York) accents but like Southern accents, etc.
6 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoWas the fox in the attack captured and/or killed? Or did it get away?
I have heard little about the case in the US, it made the news one day, but very little was said.
I have read about it on here and a few articles. But I have never heard or read the definitive answer to whether the fox was captured? If so were they checking it for signs of rabies? From what I have read about how infrequent this kind of thing is, that would have to be looked into, at least if it happened in the US. I'm sure rabies is still around in some animals in Europe, too.
3 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoHow often is the World Cup Championship?
Every four years, five years? I know it's not every year, or at least don't think so.
2 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoOn Y&R, does anybody (I mean the writers) remember Victor had a heart transplant a year or so ago?
I mean, I know heart transplant recipients can lead 'normal' lives, but are on medication all the time, suffer from medical side effects and probably would not be parachuting into another country, in their late 60's or 70's on a wild goose chase.
I would think it would be mentioned now and then, not just when Jack or somebody mentions that Victor has Colleen's heart.
9 AnswersSoap Operas1 decade agoIn New York and Chicago, where there are 2 baseball teams-?
I understand there are people in Chicago who are only White Sox fans and those who are only Cubs fans. And the same way with the Yankees and Mets in New York. Since they are different leagues, not like when the Giants and Dodgers played in the NYC area at one time, why are people just fans of one and not the other. From what I've heard about Chicago, some Cubs fans hate the White Sox almost as much as they do the Cardinals.
12 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoRE: The luge track in Vancouver, is there a specific length that it is supposed to be?
Since the unfortunate death of the Georgian athlete, they shortened the track somewhat. That made me wonder, is there a certain length it has to be or does it vary from year to year or track to track? Can it longer than a certain length and not shorter, or shorter but not longer, etc.

Is the Winkleman involved in this case related to the family who own the Pharmacy in South St. Louis?
1 AnswerSt. Louis1 decade agoY&R: Does anybody else think it is strange that Phyllis is going after Adam?
With Adam and Sharon together, she should be happy, she could get Sharon out of Nick's life, more or less. And she could really be concerned that he had something to do with Dr. Taylor's death, but it seems strange. But she also was trying to break up Jack and Sharon, but she had history with Jack. I don't get it with how she is going after Adam, unless it is to try and win Nick over that she is against his enemy.
Also, anybody else wonder if the doctor is really dead and maybe he's going to turn up and turn on Adam?
10 AnswersSoap Operas1 decade agoQuestion about the climate of Haiti. I know it gets very hot, around 90 F in the daytime?
But are the nights hot, like a midwestern summer night when it is humid and the temperature might barely go below 80, or is it like in desert climates where it gets cold at night? I would be concerned about the hundreds of thousands of people out all night, but that is better than being trapped below a collapsed building.
2 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoOn Y&R, who exactly is Sheila?
I've only watched for about a year and a half, I have seen other mentions of Sheila on here and now on the show, and get the idea the actress who plays Phyllis played both roles, but I don't know who she is or how she fits into the story. And I get the impression she is Ryder and Daisy's mother.
5 AnswersSoap Operas1 decade agoRegarding air safety on international flights: How much power does the TSA have outside the US?
There is talk about how the would be terrorist got through Amsterdam Airport security, and now the Obama administration is cracking down. But I have never heard, does the TSA or any other American agency have the authority to do searches on passengers coming to the US. Is it all done by that country's agencies?
Do they work together?
Do agencies from any other countries work with US authorities on flights to other countries, Israel for example.
5 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoHas the workplace shooting in St. Louis made national news?
This morning, with a big snowstorm overnight, all of the local stations were on and did not switch to "Today", etc. At 6:30 this morning, an employee of a company in north St. Louis walked in and shot at least 3 fellow employees or supervisors and a large number of employees are hiding in the building or huddled on the roof in temperature in the teens and wind chills probably below zero. It is not known if the suspect has escaped or is also hiding in the building. People inside the building who were hiding were calling the police and others on their cell phones, they knew who the shooter is but not where he went.
The focus on the local news has switched from the snow and weather to this shooting, but I just wondered if it made national news, yet.
10 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoIf "American Idol" could go back in time, what now famous singers but ones with not so great voices..?
would you like to hear 'audtion' for the judges, especially Simon to see his reaction and what they would say. Mine would be Ray Charles, great muscian, songwriter and even singer in his own way, how do you think the judges would think of him if they never heard him?
What about Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, any of the Bee Gees, Louie Armstrong, etc.
What ones would you like to hear to see what Simon would say.
