Did anybody notice, in 2008, people said the Republicans were 'dead'?

All kinds of stories were on the news of how big a loss the Republicans had suffered and could they recover? And the same for the Democrats in 1994 when the Republicans took the House (and Senate, I think) or when Reagan had so many 'Reagan democrats' in his time?

I'm not taking sides, just making an observation. What do you think will happen in 2 years? But if people aren't happy with the Republican House, will the Republicans stay in power?

The resulting gridlock will make a slow recovering economy recover even slower. Now they'll duke it out in Washington while the people are put on the back burner. until the 2012 election.

The way America keeps shooting itself in the foot amazes me.

There is something fundamentally flawed with the practice of your form of democracy. What America needs to do to become viable again seems very evident to the outside world. But they can't see it themselves. Instead we have a lot of hooting and hollering and no real substantive intellectual thrust toward any kind of solution for America's woes.

I feel that a benign dictatorship would be the best way forward.

The way America is going now will lead to it being the number two nation to China in a rather short time.

People re-elect known crooks to govern the country and then wonder why everything goes wrong.

The next presidential election will be won by the man with the most money, regardless of what he believes & that is what it comes down to. His speech writers will find what the public wants to hear and put the words on his tele-prompter for him to say. Pretending to actually believe them.

Somehow we are unable to even elect decent folks to govern ourselves.

In 2008, some sort of madness hit the USA - they got sucked into the idea that Obama was capable to turning 'everything wrong over there' around - walk on water!! Turns out he's only human after all eh.

Democrats still haven't lost the Senate.

I don't recall anyone saying that, no. Oh, Americans will get what they vote for. The neo-cons will try to make American government "convenient" by whittling away at the ideals that make it America in favor of the South American two class system.
