What's happened to Ryan Newman?

He beats Jimmie Johnson for ROTY honors in 2002, wins 8 races in 2003, and then goes winless for in 2006, 2007, and 2009. How is it that a guy who won 8 races in one season finds himself winning one race every two years and having to fight hard to make the Chase?

Nothing has happened to Ryan Newman. If you recall a lot of those wins were because he stretched fuel farther than others. Hard to do these days with double file restarts. He never was that great of a driver.

that`s true, and he is a good driver. bad drivers don`t win 8 races in a season, he just needs to get it together with his team. but now here you got a guy win less for three seasons and he don`t get any static compared to junior.

  • Stewart/Haas is struggling thats for sure. I don't know about Ryan...he is a good driver but just doesn't seem to be doing too much this season though he has one win at Phoenix...thats one more than his boss. .
