What are you suppose to do when you feel like you have no open door policy at your place of employment?

Yet they claim that you do.....I know of a meeting that happened in the hr department at work but our supervisor found out about it. So if you have legitimate complaints who are you suppose to go to? I work in the food and beverage industry at a casino and basically the problem is that day shift is getting treated poorly while the swing shift gets away with murder.

Open door policies does not mean that you can tell HR something and it won't get back to the department that's it's related to. In fact, that's the opposite of an open door policy.

With an open door policy, you are able to talk to different levels of management and tell than your thoughts. They then go to other people/depts to find out the other side of the issue. Once the investigation is complete, hopefully a new plan is in place so that all sides get resolution and can move forward.
