Federer is now ranked #2. And why is he seeded #1 in Wimby and not Nadal? How they came up with the seeding?

Wimbledon uses an different method in determining the seedings. Seeding is not only based on previous performance in wimbledon.

Since 2002, following an agreement made with the ATP, the singles seeding order is determined using an objective and transparent system to reflect more accurately an individual player's grass court achievements.

    The formula is:

    • Take ESP points at 14 June 2010

    • Add 100% points earned for all grass court tournaments in the past 12 months

    • Add 75% points earned for best grass court tournament in the 12 months before that.

Chef is right. If you look at some of the resolved questions, some answerers have actually worked out that Federer does indeed have more points than Nadal on grass, it's got nothing to do with the tournament just picking Fed to be the number 1 seed, Lleyton Hewitt has also been bumped up the seedings which has caused many players havoc with their seeding, however most people love picking on the buy guy when he's down hence no one complaining about players like John Isner loosing big on the seeding.

It's not just based on Wimbledon, but his overall superiority on grass courts.
