Is it ever a problem to use the same material to line a garment as the garment is made out of?

I'm making a jacket out of some silky material. The material is beautiful but rather thin, so I bought enough to use it for the lining as well. Will there be any problem with this? Any tips I should know?

It is perfectly fine to line a jacket with a thin silky fabric. But you wouldn't want to use a heavy fabric.

As far as problems- It might be so thin that it does not "hang" on the body well. You might want to consider backing the outer part with iron-on pellon. This will also make it easier to handle.
