Female Issues - Swim Team ?

Alright, so I'm on the swim team. I'm 15 years old , and I'm expecting my period. (It's a day late as of now, but no big deal) My mom doesn't like the idea of me using a tampon, and I don't like the idea either, however I refuse to miss practice and meets because I am strict with myself like that, plus its not acceptable to miss too many practices according to team rules. I have a female coach, and she said using tampons is the right idea, but I'm not comfortable with that AT ALL, and neither is my mother. I can't just not wear anything, because if I leak, I'm screwed. I usually wear pads, but that's clearly not a good idea in the water. I'm sort of afraid to insert a tampon, and I'm just 100% uncomfortable with the idea and process. PLEASE HELP. I don't want to quit the swim team and I'm not going to quit just because I'm a girl.

Try a tampon! I have been wearing them ever since i was 13, and they really aren't a big deal. You have tons of options such as organic ones or anything else. You also could try and stop your period, but honestly no matter what you do you are going to have to face up to it, it's going to come down to that or missing practice. I'm sorry if you don't like this and i wish i could help more but sometimes theres just stuff in life you have to face up too. You could also search a ''menstral cup'' as an alternative. Why are you uncomfortble though? You can search how to insert a tampon from websites such as tampax or u buy kotex. It doesn't make you loose your virginity and it also helps you stay cleaner. Maybe talk to your doctor about options.

  • Tampons are really easy, trust me. I just started using them this year and I've had my period for three years cause I was so freaked out before. Just ask your mom to let you try it, and she should understand if you want to be good on your swim team. Follow the instructions on the box, and most importantly, relax. If you get all worried, it'll be much harder to get in. It might take you a few tries at first, but once you get it right it's SOOO much better than pads and you won't want to go back. Well, except maybe at night. That's a must. You should change tampons every 8 hours or less, depending on your flow, so if you fall asleep and it's in too long repeatedly it can lead to TSS, and even though it's very rare, you'd better be safe. So using pads at night is a better idea, but as for the day tampons are great. You can't even feel them or anything, and after you change them a few times you get used to it. Good luck and God bless!

I'm a swimmer too! Now down to business. Do you realize how much practice you are going to miss over the years if you don't learn how to wear a tampon? One week every month. That is unacceptable. Coaches understand girl problems a few times, but you can't call yourself a swimmer and miss all that practice. Secondly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with using tampons. Talk to your mom about it. Put the tampon in, get over yourself, and get in the pool.

Tampons are actually really comfortable once you get used to them, sometimes I don't even know there there. They're not as bad as they seem, I think there better than pads personally, there not messy and they don't make you smell bad. And if your on the swim team than your gonna have to use them, I'm also 15 and love to swim, just buy the small kind.

i might eliminate the speedo theory, and persist with what some men call a newfound glory- the jammer. The jammer appears like a pair of swim trunks that has been vaccuum sealed on your legs. It provides lots extra coverage on your issue than a speedo does. They make jammers for races, and jammers for practices. The Speedo Fastskin or Fastskin 2 is made for races and however that's high priced, I exceedingly reccommend it. many of the different jammers are your prevalent prepare adventure. in case you nevertheless choose for to placed on a speedo, I propose donning what they call a "drag adventure" over it. A drag adventure is purely what its call potential- a adventure that motives drag. that's often made out of mesh, and is drastically dishevelled. The drag adventure is purely to be worn at prepare. placed on it at a meet and persons will chuckle at you. It creates drag once you swim so once you swim with out it, that's much less complicated to accomplish that. i supplies you no different concepts regrettably, yet i'm hoping i'd desire to help.

Using a tampon isn't a big deal. After the first time, it is completely fine.

There's no reason to be uncomfortable with using a tampon.

And honestly, that is your only real option other than skipping practice.
