Is there a way to feel okay not finishing something all at once?

I have trouble relaxing if I haven't finished a task, such as a paper-I can't do just research or some research and some paper-writing and then watch a movie or work on some other work because I'll be on edge. What can I do about this?

perhaps your are very goal orientated and cant relax until you have finished what you feel needs to be done . if that is the case, then you need to learn to trust in yourself alittle more so that you will feel more confident about completing a task on time but not necessarily immediately. i have the same problem myself if i feel something needs to be done no mater how small i cant relax until i go do it. bright side to this is it is better than being the opposite and not feeling like doing anything .

Our minds tend to nag us about things we haven't finished that we know we should finish. A helpful approach is to decide what your priorities are. Make a list of what you need to do, it doesn't have to be long. Then decide what's the most important thing on the list, number it #1. Then go down the list in order of importance. Now that you know what you need to work on simply start doing it. You don't have to do it all at once, just take small steps. Try not to move on to doing other things until you finish one thing. Once you finish your top priority remember to reward yourself by telling yourself what a great job you did. Now you're ready to move on to the next thing. Repeat the process as often as you'd like. People who do this feel great because they don't have to worry about all the unfinished stuff in their lives.
