What is it like to work for Amcor?

I am an employee at one of the Ball Plastics plants that just got bought by Amcor. Everybody is getting kind of apprehensive about what it's going to be like working for Amcor. We've heard everything from "pay in the $10/hr neighborhood" to "nothing is going to change but the name on the building". Any Amcor employees (preferably ones that work with PET) with input would be MUCH appreciated because we're not getting much for information via Ball.

Thanks in advance!

My company was just recently purchased by Amcor as well. Let me start by saying that the "nothing will change" statement is the biggest mis-statement (didn't want to say lie) you'll ever hear! There has not been a day that something hasn't changed. Positions have been eliminated in all areas and levels of the operation/organization, no salary cuts, but no increases, to include cost of living. Reports are new to us, but the reports are archaic - data we looked at 10-15 years ago and found no value. They push profit and cost cutting - that's it. They say they have a good safety program, but haven't seen it - they don't even have dedicated safety professionals at their sites. They are also "top heavy," meaning there are a lot of high level (Chiefs), yet the sites (Indians) are being reduced. They are all about the bottom line - making it with no investment in people, equipment, etc. They are moving equipment and business from site to site and have closed down 2 plants already - their comment: looking for synergy and to eliminate redundancies. A lot of people in my organization are looking - the only problem is, with this economy, there's not a lot of places to go. They are very clear as to who the boss is. Didn't really have anything good to say - but you asked.
