Alternates for Bachelor and Bachelorette parties?
My fiance and I don't want to have the whole stripper B&B parties, but we do want to have B&B parties. What are some other options? I was thinking about having the guys watch guy movies and the girls watch chick flicks? anyone else have something?
I don't want it to be joint, well maybe. I like the idea of a separate thing. No alcohol at either of the parties we do not drink.
okay new approach, i don't like the idea of a spa day. sorry guys not my thing. Any other ideas?

I'm more tomboyish so I'm not in to the spa stuff either. Are you considering a combined bachelor(ette) party? Or separate? Honestly, I think that idea of a movie sounds like just a normal guys or girls day/night out, your bachelor(ette) party should be something special, but will work if its something YOU like.
I don't drink either and I'm not into strippers.
Here are alternatives to consider (for the women and for the men):
Bowling
Sporting event (baseball game, basketball, etc)
Amusement Park
Theater/Musical
Concert
Mini-golf
Golf
Dinner & Dancing (doesn't have to include drinks if you don't want)
Mardi Gras theme party (could be an all white for a wedding)
Scavenger Hunt Party
Beach Party (if you are near any)
Paintball - guys
Skeet Shooting -guys
Camping
Casino night (at a actual casino or a casino themed party, not everyone is into casino's or gambling though)
For one of my brothers' bachelor party, they had it at a friends house because he has a really big yard and it could accommodate everyone, they rented a dunk tank, a batting cage, and a moon bounce. They did that played cards, drank, ate and 7 years later everyone still talks about how much fun they had at it - it was stripper free, but not alcohol free.
Here's a couple sites with suggestions, I'm at work and can't see them cause they're blocked so they may have some things I've already suggested or that you've already ruled out as well:
http://www.bridesmaid101.com/bachelorette_party.ht...
http://www.howtodothings.com/family-and-relationsh...
http://www.bachelorette-party-heaven.com/bachelore...
One thing that I'm thinking of, even though I'm the bride and don't drink, my bridesmaids do, so I can still do many of the things listed which may or may not involve drinking, if its an event that many or some will want to drink doesn't mean I have to.
Good luck and congrats!

You could have a theme for your joint party if it is joint. Find a nice venue. Play games like how well do you know the bride and groom. Find a good live band. Good Food and alcohol. Make a good DVD of all of your childhood and relationship photographs play that on a flat screen while the party is going on. There is a program called Movie Maker. Make sure to have nice prizes for the games you come up with. If you are in San Antonio email me at greatexpectationsrj@live.com if you need a event planner. Rose

Do you mean that this is going to be a combined B&B party....so guys and girls together? One party?
If so, then I do like your idea. OR...you can do other things like bowling, etc.
If these are separate parties, then the guys can do what they like: golf? bowling? And the girls can do a "spa" type of party.
But if this is a combined party, then choose an activity that you both like and have everyone do that and then possibly go out for pizza/beer after.

You could do a spa party for the girls
Have someone come and give fiscals, manicure, pedicures the night before the wedding
It's should be fun and relaxing and get you ready for the wedding
Bachelor
I have know many that went to a sport game or watch one on tv at a sport bar

Lots of couples go co-ed for their bachelor/bachelorette party now. After all, most people have been living together for years before getting married, so their single life is long gone already! Lots of possible things to do: it can be as low key as bowling, or as elaborate as a trip to Vegas with your group of friends.
My husband had a guys-only bachelor night, but it was stripper-free. There was UFC in our city one week before the wedding, so they got premium seats. And I know he only went there, cause he came home exactly 30 minutes after the end of the fight.

I really like the Spa Day suggestion. And maybe send the guys out for golf or bowling.

I like the answer above me.
For the ladies....arrange manicures, pedicures, massages and movies....Twilight sounds like a good choice. :)
Then for the men....playing pool, reminiscing about the "old days" before the old ball and chain came along...men are so predictable...and some guy flicks like...Scarface or The Godfather.....Jack Nicholson, Nicholas Cage and John Travolta movies are good too.

I like Halo Mom's idea....a spa day for the women and how about a fishing, or paintball or game for the men....
