12% See Secession Attempt Very Likely in Next 25 Years - Agree?
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 28% of Adults believe it is at least somewhat likely that some states will try to leave the United States and form an independent country over the next 25 years or so. Sixty-four percent (64%) say a secession attempt is unlikely.
Would you support division of the US into regional interests? Or perhaps a confederacy like Canada, where any state can leave at any time?

Some states talk big but the realization that all federal funds will be pulled from a state that does secede the big talk suddenly goes away. How any state believes it could survive, let alone prosper, left to their own is fantasy. And if a state did leave could you image the tax level that state would need to impose just to maintain basic infrastructure and services?

Twenty six percent would just about take in the more radical percentage of our country, the militia members, the gun crazy crowd, the religiously distorted, the Tea Parties, the bullies, the loudmouths who don't even know what they boast about. Thank Heavens at least 64 percent are sane.
We once lived in the richest country in the world, a gentle giant greatly respected throughout the universe. It took eight years of Bush and Cheney to loot the Treasury, ruin our reputation, and lead us into needless wars. On top of that, our Corporations fled the country, without a backward glance. Now we struggle to reclaim what we lost, with the country divided into two political ideologies. But it will take more than 64% to lead us into recession. Which would any sensible person prefer? A stable Middle Class with compassion for the Poor....or a Wealthy Class with everyone else Poor? Any person who wants to live in an Aristocracy has my sympathy.

No
The more likely thing is that the federal government goes bankrupt while some states maintain their high credit rating.
They will ignore the federal government which will be under strict austerity measures and cutting spending,
The federal government will become ineffective and for the most part ignored.

no I don't agree
the 27-28 percentile group are the same people who show up in all these polls
This is the group who supported Bush at the very end of his term, they are the same ones who disapproved of Obama at the very beginning of his term, and they are the ones who believe there will be a secession attempt.

Wouldn't be a good idea unless all 50 states seceded from Washington D.C.

No, its isn't likely at all. However, if Arizona, Alaska, or Texas want to secede its fine by me.
