McChrystal resigned not because what he said was wrong, but that fact that he said it. It's not politically correct to challenge the ignorance of your commander & chief. McChrystal is gone, and with his departure, that ignorance of the commander & chief is still present . So not much has changed.

Obama didn't fire McChrystal. McChrystal was resigning and Rolling Stone released the story early so they didn't get beat to the punch.

  • Yes. No matter what you can't say things like that about the president and still be in command. You just can't no matter how true it is.

I think McChrystal knew what he was doing and was just fed up with not being fully supported.

He wasn't fired; he resigned. He would have had to fire him regardless.

All that said, it doesn't make General McChrystal wrong.

The real reason McChrystal was fired, was the interview was by Rolling Stone. Obama clearly feels there is only room for one "rock star" in his administration.

No, he should have given him post guarding Alaska. That way McChrystal can't run to the private sector and make money as a senior military analyst for Faux.

    Absolutely. He was crassly insubordinate.

"Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates, once the general’s biggest supporter, criticized General McChrystal for “a significant mistake” while Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was described by a senior aide as “deeply disappointed” by the comments."

Yes~ even though what Mc Chrystal said was probably right the chain of command was broken

now General Mc Chrystal can write a book and run for a political office ~ maybe President?

McChrystal had to go - for the good of the service, whether you agree with him or not. Only someone who didn't support the troops or wanted America to fail would say otherwise.
