Windows xp reinstall on a dell computer Please Help?
i am trying to install windows xp on my 2400 series dell
in the startup screen i hit f12
try to boot from cd rom
and it says hit F1 to reboot or f12 for setup
i dont understand it the disc just came from dell and the tech support guys cannot figure it out i have already called them 3 times can someone please help
i went into my boot tab f2 and selected only cd rom to boot i also turned off fast boot and turned off usb imulation
and it is still doing the same thing
do you think there could be a problem with the disc?

Go into your bios and go to the boot tab. Select to only boot off your CD-drive. Your bios is accessible on startup by pressing the delete key or the F2 key usually. If it lists a different key, press that.

go to the bios at boot up hit whatever key it shows to enter setup then change the boot order to boot from the d first save the settings and when it boots it should say hit any key to boot from the cd just hit ant key and it should boot from your cd

you don,t have to press anything,i do this one a month or more for people just put the disk in right before startup.it may take a few tries.then when it says press key to boot. press q
