Ok to feed salmon to dogs?
I have a maltese, and if we ever have leftover meat for dinner, we dice it up well and put it in his bowl. Is plain grilled salmon ok for a dog?

Yup its fine. My puppy loves it actually. Whenever we have canned salmon sandwich, she will sit beside us and wait for a small tidbits that fall off the kitchen table. Then she will want to lick the remaining salmon off the bowl. I believe the omega 3 oil in salmon makes their coat shinier and healthier. That's what I read from some dog books and my breeder also told us that.

Salmon is rich in fish oils and is great for a dog's coat. I use Jack Mackerel, though, it's cheaper and I think it does a better job than the Salmon. I feed it about every week or ten days. Been doing it for many years...

Yep, mine gets canned salmon or sardines twice a week, good omega oils. Subract that from her regular kibble ration. My dog normally gets 1/2 cup of taste of the wild, If I add a raw egg, fish,or a spoonful of cottage cheese I'll cut the kibble in half.

My vet says it's ok to feed cooked salmon to your dog, but never let the pet eat raw salmon that you have caught. Something about salmonella that will make them ill, or kill them.

Salmon is great for dogs. The oils will actually help her skin and coat.
Just as a note, please be careful that you are not overfeeding her. Whatever amount you are giving her should be subtracted from her daily kibble.
