Local C disk full. Any solutions?

Hey guys!

I have a lenovo laptop. I'm such a noob at computers all I know is how to use it.

So, my laptop's partitioned into 29GB for Local Disk C: and 105GB for D:

The Local Disk is full. I save everything onto my D: Disk but it is still full.

Do you guys have any solutions or advices for me at all?

Is there an easy way to partition this in a different ratio?

Please help.. My computer's been slowing down a lot and heats up really fast now.

I guess some of it has to do with its age but it'd help out a lot if there were more space in the Local disk. Thanks!

First buy a external Hard disk with high capacity, then backup all.

Format your computer for fresh and repartition it. My suggestion is three similar sized partition

    (Total HDD size/3)

    Just quickly

You probably have been installing any new programs to the c:\ drive. Anything like messenger or adobe microsoft office or any apps like this will default to install on the c:\ drive.

29GB is only small ammount of space so will become full quickly.

You can uninstall any programs you dont use via control panel , add\remove programs

    Or

You can extend the partition of C:\

    Or

you could buy bigger disk and move it all across.

The last two require some knowlege and should be covered in different question when the time comes.

download CCleaner, I use it all the time to remove unnecessary files that accumulate in your computer. I will hopefully remove all the temporary files that you seem to have. If this doesn't solve anything then you probably filled your computer with to many applications and files. Such as music and movies, they take up a lot of space. Look into buying an external harddrive that can store all of this. For about 80$ you can get 1TB (1000 GB) of external storage space.

Buy an external hard drive from Dick Smith, Officeworks, Harvey Norman and many other electronic stores. It doesn't take long to set up and it's as simple as plugging in a cord :)
