was surah 26 renamed, originally called statesmen or something akin to politicians?

Surah 26 is called the poets, but does not mention this key word until the end of the surah and then it says that they go about the land boasting of things they do not do.

That is an odd admonishment to put upon people who write poetry or fiction or song lyrics, some of which are about their life experiences but which otherwise the audience understands is not auto-biographical.

I do not think the original version of Qur'an -- or there is a problem in translation of the Arabic -- says poets. I think it is saying politicians or a word such as statesmen or something similar. Everything else in the surah points to prophets who have to go up against political leaders not against poets. It tells the story of several prophets in brief form, all of whom are called liars and all of whom give similiar speeches against the liar leaders who oppose them. The first story told in the surah is of Moses and Pharaoh.

Though I know we are supposed to defer to Allah's understanding, it is still hard to believe there were many poets leading opposition to those prophets, but easy to understand why political leaders and the upper classes whose interests those politicos serve would oppose the prophets.

(Disclaimer: Surah 26 also says there are exceptions to the rule of whichever group is being spoken of.)
