My Hair Metal band of the day (Take 14)?

It is incomprehensible how so many great bands got overlooked in this era while there were lesser quality bands that sold millions of records. Today I am featuring another of those ridiculously underrated bands, Lillian Axe. They released four amazing albums from '88 to '93 and received next to no recognition, they did have a good underground following though.

Deepfreeze (the drummer on this album played on the first two Godsmack CDs)

MQ: Thoughts on the band/songs?

MQ2: Favorite musician who recorded with one band before finding popularity with another band of a different genre of music?

BQ: What is the worst food you have ever ate?

Will give em a listen, and let ya know. Can't promise I will give an in depth answer tonight though, unfortunately.

I still got a couple of my own Q's I ain't got around to posting... just too darn busy to do more than peek in right now.

    MQ-

    Vision In The Night

    - Seemed largely like pretty stock Hair Rock. Nothing bad to say about it.. they all played well and cleanly overall, and the singer was decent, if not terribly distinctive on it.. I think that is really the only knock I could make.. is that nothing really stood out to distinguish it form any of the other Hair Metal/Rock of the era (kinda like the glut of generic MeloDeath and Metalcore bands we got today)

    Show A Little Love

-Much better than the previous track IMO. The riff and the general tempo of the song had a more energetic, punchier feel to it. The bassline was kinda the generic "bouncy" bass so loved by GLAM of the era, but it sounded good with the music, as did the drums. I think the singer also sounded a bit more rounded on this.

    Innocence

-This had a much nicer pace with the opening guitar leading to a very harried, quick and classic 80s Rock-n-Roller feel. Only knock is the singer sounded like he took a step back in his style, I dunno if he was simply affecting a deeper style for this song, or trying to sound more Metal, but it was not near as good sounding vocally as the last track.

    Deepfreeze

    - THe change in drummer is immediately apparent. Much more involved, even if I am not much of a fan of Godsmack. Also thought the guitars and bass similarly had a more mature, les GLAM feel to them. This was overall the heaviest song of the four IMO, and the second best for vocals, though "Show A Little Love" was the vocal best.

Overall I would say like much fo the Hair movement.. a good band, that really did little to stand out from the commercial pack until it was essentially too late. If they had found their voice a little earlier ( 1993 was a BAD year to be a GLAM band) they migtha been something.

MQ2- Ritchie Blackmore.... though he was very famous for his earlier bands too, obviously, between Deep Purple and Rainbow in particular. But my favorite stuff from him is when he left Heavy Metal/Hard Rock and formed the Folk Rock band Blackmore's Night.

BQ- I would have to say 2 McDonald's cheeseburgers I ate about 10 years ago. I had such a sever case of food poisoning I was hospitalized and could not stop vomiting or anything for over a week, and could not even keep water down for almost 2. Took 3 months before my system got remotely back in whack.
