How severe do you believe the solar storms will affect the Earth?
I have read more than one opinion from not to worry to catastrophic. Thank you.
please, serious answers only. I am not talking about the end of the world or anything like that, just the severity of the storms.

The solar maximum in 2013 is expected to be less than average. Only twice in human history have solar storms affected life on Earth, and both times the effects were relatively minor. The problems are greater this time around because of our greater dependence on computers and satellites, but we had no problems during the last solar maximum with almost as many satellites and computers.

Nothing. They have been hitting the Earth for at least billions of years. They only cause severe problems for planets without atmospheres. The worst we know of happened in 1859, and they only seem to cause problems at all every 500 years. It might temporarily mess up a radio somewhere but that is about it.

If you're old enough to post this question, you've already lived through at least one solar maximum period. Do you remember it? Probably not. Most people don't notice at all, and the upcoming one is predicted to be even weaker than usual.

well... it'll rip off the outer layers of the atmosphere and the ozone then the radiation will kill every living thing on the surface of the earth... then earth will end up like mars... maybe...
