How to Tell if Cat Gave Birth?
There's been a cat coming around meowing lately. Today I brought food out for her and she ate it. She was super friendly so I went to pick her up and noticed her nipples are quite swollen. I brought her inside but now I'm not sure if she already had the litter? I don't want to keep her inside if her poor kittens are starving outside somewhere. I've only dealt with fixed cats before..
Thanks! She is fur-less around the nipples. I put her back outside. I've only seen her around for a week, maybe a little more and she's always hidden (just heard the meow or saw her head under the neighbor's car) so I'm not sure what her weight has been like. I put a box in the garage with some padding and left a bowl of food. I'll keep an eye on her. Maybe I can bring her inside in the future and figure out what to do with her.

has she lost weight? if you have been seeing the cat for some time you should have noticed a change in body shape.
If the kittens are a week or so old the fur around the nipples will be missing and if you keep her in for a few hours she will start filling up with milk.
if she keeps coming round hen it will do no harm to let her go out if you are truly worried that she may have had kittens - she might even decide to move them in!

Put the food outside where she can reach it but it's out of sight of other animals. She's probaby got a litter of kittens somewhere.

If I were you I would let her outside. Maybe watch her or follow her around and see if you find kittens.
