Your opinion of the old argument "genes over environment"?

The two sides

It takes a village to raise a child

The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree.

............................................

While this might be subjective, please validate your thoughts with your experiences.

Both genes and environment are important. Genes work only in the context of an environment--change the environment enough and the expression of the genes may change. Conversely, genes also restrict the influence that the environment can have on an indivdual.

So really, the question of which matters more is a specious question. They both matter. Sometimes, genes might be a stronger influence. In other circumstances, environment might be stronger. But both do influence human behavior.
