According to Y!A : "A "Top Contributor" is a member of the Yahoo Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a certain category. Each user can be a top contributor in a maximum three categories. You earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a certain section. The more positively you contribute, the more chance there is that you will get a TC badge. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way to give credit to community members."

Y!A has never said what the precise requirements are. It's commonly accepted that you need to answer a lot of questions (50?, 100?, who knows...) in a category and get Best Answers on a certain percent of them (probably 10-15%) each week.

TC badges are dynamic - - they come and go as a reflection of your recent activity.

You can have TC badges in up to 3 categories at a time. There is no TC badge for the Jokes and Polls & Surveys categories.

    :o)

  • You could of lost your Top Contributor badge by:

Not receiving enough % of best answers (12%) in the certain category.

    Staying inactive in the category

Top Contributors on Y!A are users who are very knowledgeable in a certain category.

To be a TC you have to answer around 40-50 questions in any category except for Jokes & Riddles and Polls & Surveys in the length of 1 week and receive at least 12% of best answers. You can be a TC in 3 categories, but some users are a TC in 4 categories.

TC badges are received each Monday morning.

If you do not remain active and actively answer questions and getting at least 12% Best Answers in the categories that you are a Top Contributor in, you can lose the badge. As was said before, so long as you stay active in the category(ies) that you want the Top Contributor badge in, and you keep on getting Best Answers in that category, you'll keep the Top Contributor badge

If you do not continue to contribute in the category that you received the badge every week, it does go away. If you have only just lost it then go back into your chosen category and answer, answer and more answer and it should be back within a couple of weeks.

You have to maintain a certain amount of best answers in one category each week. If the % slips, you might lose it, but can regain it back again.

No one seems to know what the formula actually is, but thats the basic principal.

I just looked at your answers. Its because you havent posted for a while.
