Are we ever going finished our wars?

Since Vietnam, American has never worn or finished it's wars and leaves more problems down the line for never generations to handle. The reason why bring this up our goverment wants to pull out both wars by 2011 and let those people deal with their own problems. I understand the problems that troops face on the ground, but is this how we want our military to be know for start a war, but never finished it?

Update:

Just in cause even think I'am crazy for asky this question, no not forget 9/11, I just feel we just have finished this war, before bad guys decide try finish us off and way our leaders acting in white house, just want give up.

We didn't start the Afgan war. Did you forget 911? The actual wars are over. The military governmental forces of Afghanistan and Iraq were defeated fairly quickly. Furthermore it was not just the US. It was a coalition effort involving many countries. What is going on there is more or less a guerrilla / terrorist action. The goal is to establish stable governments with effective police / military forces so the countries do not turn back into the aggressive, totalitarian regimes that there were before the war.

We won the first Gulf War. We also won the Cold War. Panama was also won by us, although it wasn't really a war. All other conflicts I can think of have been missions to maintain peace mostly, not engagement in war.

We will never finish having wars as long as we are one of the leading nations in the world. Force by leading nations is what increases stability around the world, since different governments know if they do something stupid one or more of the leading counties (mostly us) is here and capable of taking action, to include military action, against them.

War is a necessary evil, and so long as there is more than one person on earth who interacts with another person, conflict will exist in some form. War is not always perfect, and will never be perfect. It's always easy to criticize, but remember that nothing which involves humans is perfect and criticism is one of the easiest routes to take despite its purpose.

wars beget wars ~ like world war one is going to go into world war two etc etc

after the invention of the Atomic Bomb and the dropping of two A Bombs to end World War Two

it seems we fight just third world countries who don't have the powerful atomic weapons of war

The USA still has troops in Europe and Asia long after

    the last world war

I think the USA will be in Afghanistan for a long long time

just like the USA will have a military prescence in Iraq

no matter what politicians say~ the USA has many

    permanent bases around the world

at a tremendous expense to the USA

    or Weapons of Mass Destruction.

This is why Iran want to have nuclear capability~ and North Korea can rattle its saber at the

    rest of the world
