A Hurricane has never hit Europe. Europe has received very strong Low pressure areas that were once Hurricanes but the Atlantic waters are not nearly warm enough that far North to sustain a hurricane.

The above link has an excellent graphic of water temps in the Atlantic ocean.

Ocean temperatures have to be at least 80F (26C) in order form a hurricane to both form and sustain itself from the waters heat energy.

Carlys answer is pretty much right. I would add that while a hurricane has never reached Europe as a hurricane, what has happened on some occasions is that a former hurricane transitioned into what is known as an extra-tropical low, that being different from a hurricane due to various characteristics. These extra-tropical lows can produce hurricane force winds in a few cases, but are technically not hurricanes since the cold water they exist over caused the transition into the extra-tropical low.

that's achievable that the melancholy led to by ability of Sandy hits europe, in spite of the undeniable fact that it will be a lot smaller than the unique typhoon. i've got faith (yet not sure) that the flow is led to by ability of the jetstreams interior the top layer of the ambience.
