What is the BBC calling it in Britain?
On the BBC World reports broadcast on the USA's NPR network most of the time the game for the World Cup is referred to as "Soccer" and not "football". Is the BBC doing this only for its American broadcsts? What is the game being called by the BBC in Britain?

They call it football on the telly. I'm sure I've not heard it called soccer... i could be wrong tho.

In Britain the BBC call it football, as very few Brits call the game soccer.
On international broadcasts, the word soccer is normally used, as many countries are more familiar with this term.

They are doing that because the majority of the viewers call it soccer. Britain is not the majority of English speakers and even in Britain the word soccer is very well understood.

They call it soccer there too. Don't let them fool you. US isn't the only country that calls it soccer.
